Motul Motylgear 75W-80 is a premium gear / transmission lubricant designed for use in manual gearboxes, differentials, and transfer cases (excluding limited slip unless specified). It uses Motul’s Technosynthese® semi-synthetic technology, which blends high-quality base stocks and additives to balance protection, performance, and cost. The 75W-80 grade is chosen to offer a good balance: low enough “75W” side for easier shifting in cooler conditions, and hot viscosity (“80”) to maintain adequate film strength under heat and load. One of its key strengths: it resists viscosity loss under shear stress (shown by the KRL 20-h shear test), so the oil remains stable in demanding use. It’s often recommended for gearboxes that are “hard to shift, ” as seen in certain Peugeot, Citroën, and Renault gearboxes. Because of its API GL-4 / GL-5 ratings, it’s flexible enough to suit a variety of vehicle gear requirements, but always check the manufacturer spec to ensure 75W-80 and GL-5 / GL-4 is acceptable for that gearbox.
